  • Population
    • According to the 2001 census the total Bhopal population was about 1,5 million, today it is approximately 2.1 million
  • Area
    • 285 sq km
  • Climate
    • Bhopal has a humid subtropical climate, with a hot summer and a humid monsoon season. Winters in Bhopal are mild, sunny and dry, with average temperatures around 18 °C and little or no rain. November-December normally sees temperatures between 11 and 29°C.
  • Visa
    • Please check with the Indian embassy in your country
  • Travel
    • Air: There are no direct international flights to Bhopal but direct flights are available between Bhopal and Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Calcutta. Indian Air lines, Air Sahara, Jet airways and Air Deccan are fliers operating from city.
    • Road: City of Bhopal is well connected through road with major cities of the country. Frequent bus service is available from Bhopal to prominent cities of the state.
    • Local Transport: City buses, auto rickshaw, taxis etc. are easily available
  • Health and Insurance
    • All international participants are required to be covered by travel, health insurance.
    • As the workshop will involve visits to the industrial site it is recommended that participants have taken Tetanus immunisation shots

  • Dress
    • Participants are requested to dress conservatively keeping in mind the culture and weather conditions. Clothing and shoes should protect and cover adequately to minimize direct exposure on visits to the contaminated factory site.

  • How accessible is the factory site?
    • It is cleared by the government for short guided visits with prior permission and is one of the most visited sites of Bhopal. The site is still highly contaminated. Please consult a physician is if you feel any health history might expose you to risk. Clothing and shoes should protect and cover adequately to minimize direct exposure on visits to the contaminated factory site.
  • What will the registration fee cover?
    • The registration fees for the Workshop (23 January - 04 February 2011) will include site visit transportation, day excursions to Sanchi and Bhimbetka, lunch, opening and closing ceremony dinners and stationary cost.
    • The registration fees for the symposium only (02 to 04 February 2011) will include daily lunch, tea and opening and closing ceremony dinners.
